Eagle Butte Man Indicted for First Degree Burglary and Aggravated Sexual Abuse

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Eagle Butte man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for First Degree Burglary and Aggravated Sexual Abuse.

David Ross Low Dog, age 27, was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 18, 2012. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on January 25, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 25 years' imprisonment on the burglary charge and up to life imprisonment on the sexual abuse charge. The charges are merely accusations, and Low Dog is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by Cheyenne River Tribal Law Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Britt M. Haxton is prosecuting the case. Low Dog was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
